C.H.I.P. Community Health Improvement Partnership (CHIP) is a group of citizens who have formed a partnership to set priorities through a productive community planning process to improve health system development and to improve the health status for Baker County. CHIP was begun in partnership with the Oregon Department of Rural Health, St. Elizabeth Health Services and Baker County. CHIP has evolved into community partners that include Mountain Valley Mental Health, the School District, physicians, St. Elizabeth Health Services, the Compassion Center, Community Connections, individual citizens of Baker County, and many others. CHIP, through data collected at a community forum and numerous individual interviews, set FIVE priorities for health improvement in Baker County. Teams have been formed to research and find possible solutions to the following concerns: 1) Access to primary care; 2) Affordable health insurance; 3) Substance abuse; 4) Cancer awareness and support; and 5) Healthy lifestyles. CHIP welcomes interested citizens at any time. CHIP meets on the third Thursday evening of each month at 5:15 p.m. at the Senior Center.
