Physical / Occupational Therapy Services

Occupational therapy at St. Elizabeth Health Services occurs in a variety of settings including outpatient and inpatient.  OT provides rehab for individuals with neurological disorders, orthopedic problems, and issues or injuries involving the hands, arms, and shoulders.  OT services include training in the performance of ADLs and offering instruction in the use of adaptive techniques and equipment.  Consultation is also offered for evaluation of homes for safety and handicap accessibility.  Performing wheelchair assessments and helping patients choose and obtain these assistive devices is another area of expertise of the OT department.  We provide ergonomics evaluations at your worksite and also perform physical and functional capacity evaluations at our outpatient clinic.  Occupational therapy is a special service ready to help with the job of living.

St. Elizabeth Health Services' physical therapists serve the community in numerous ways by treating patients in the hospital, in nursing homes and assisted living facilities as well as seeing individuals in our outpatient clinic.  Physical therapy is ordered for patients with various diagnoses: orthopedic concerns, neurological problems, developmental delay, sports medicine, acute and chronic pain, and many more.  Our therapists are skilled in a wide range of techniques so that each patient can be treated as an individual with their own special needs and goals.  We provide care designed to minimize or resolve symptoms as we assist patients to increase strength, flexibility, fitness, and function.  Each therapist also educates patients, family members, and caregivers regarding health problems and designs a home exercise program to be used to maintain independence, quality of life and hopefully reoccurrence of injury.
